How to improve student‘s mental health

1、 大学生的心理健康十分重要

2、 因此,学校可以......

3、 我们自己应当......

There is no denying the fact that mental health is of great importance to college students. Nowadays, many students in college suffer from mental illness, which severely affects their life and study. Taking a look around, we can find examples too numerous to list. Reports are often heard that some students committed suicide or murdered their roommates. Typical examples include the case of Ma Jiajue and that of a girl stabbing her schoolmates.

In view of the seriousness of the situation, effective measures must be taken before things get worse. On the one hand, due attention has to be paid by colleges to students’ mental health. First, lectures on psychological health should be frequently given to students to prevent problems from happening. Secondly, psychological clinics should be set up to provide troubled students with timely help.

As to students, we should keep the channel of communication open among ourselves and between us and our teachers and parents. Besides, in case of mental illness, we should not hesitate to go to psychological counselors for help. Only with these measures taken can we expect sound growth of college students.

Will e-books replace traditional books?

A new era has come. With the mass production of electronic devices and

application of new technologies, mankind has entered an “e” age. Nowadays, we have e-mails, e-tickets, e-tests, and e-books, and consequently, paper-based materials

gradually vanish. Nowadays, e-books become extremely popular among youngsters, while traditional ones seem suffer a great loss of their readers.

For some people, electronic and internet based books are convenient and accessible. Environmentalists even advocate the benefit of e-books on the ground of forest

protection. E-books lovers even assert that traditional books will disappear in the near future. I have been a book worm for a long time. For me, reading experience is unique and rewarding. Nothing can be more thought-provoking than thumbing through a book bought years ago under a table lamp in a dark night. As to note-taking, scanning and skimming, and portability, traditional books have advantages. Just as the

invention of camera didn't put an end to the history of painting, traditional books are, and will still be, an intimate friend of readers.

With the development of the information technology, electric books (e-books ) have attracted the attention from all our society. Wherever we go, we can see them, such as in the libraries, in the classroom as well as on the Internet. Just some experts predicted in a rectent TV interview, e-books would possibly dominate the reading the next few decades. Some people claim that the e-books will substitude the traditional ones. For one thing, the e-books can not only bring them great amount of convenience, but also free them from going to the bookstores to selecting traditional books. For another, e-books save them lots of space as well as money. They can just put them in

computers and take them while traveling. However, traditional books are too heavy and bulk for us to carry. From my perspective, I firmly believe the e-books can not take the traditional books' place totally. They will unquestionably co-exist for a long period.

Although the e-books offer us lots of favorable consequences, the traditional books can provide us opportunities to take note on them and to be easy for collection.

Therefore, the e-books and the traditional books are preferable to different people, and both of them can bring us benefits.

Should one expect a reward when doing a good deed

1. 有的人认为应该有回报

2. 另外的人认为应该象雷锋一样不要回报

3. 我的看法

Should One Expect a Reward When Doing a Good Deed?

A great many people presume upon a reward when conducting a good deed. First and foremost, there is a natural tendency to equate doing good deeds with a certain amount of pecuniary reward, and reward with a certain sum of money. What is more, they maintain that since the basis of contemporary society is money, one of the major means of earning money is getting reward by conducting good deeds.

Conversely, the vast majority of people assume that doing a good deed should be based on people’s individual consciousness of responsibility. Hence, conducting a good deed is fulfilling itself and little significance should be attached to monetary reward. Numerous illustrations can be given, but this will suffice. Mr. Leifeng lived an austere life dedicated to doing good deeds without expecting any reward and succoring people from all walks of life, yet he was remembered as one of the most successful idol of our time.

Generally speaking, it is imperative for us to conduct good deeds without expecting any rewards. For one thing, we should appeal to the authorities to legislate strict laws and regulations to encourage people to do good deeds. For another, we should

cultivate people's awareness that conducting good deeds is extremely crucial to us. It is universally acknowledged that we do this for enjoyment, self-fulfillment and spiritual enhancement, not for the purpose of pecuniary reward.

The Importance of Reading Classics

阅读经典著作的重要性

【提纲outlines 】

1、阅读经典著作对人的成长至关重要

2、现在人们越来越少阅读经典著作,原因是……

3、作为大学生,你应该怎么做

The Importance of Reading Classics

It is widely acknowledged that reading the classics is both important and beneficial to the character development and personal growth of the young people. To me,

nothing can bring more joy and happiness than reading those masterpieces created by great figures like Confucius and Cao Xueqin. I believe works like The Dream in the Red Chamber and The Legend of Three Kingdoms can drastically elevate one’s aesthetic taste and deepen the understanding of the glorious history of Chinese culture.

However, the modern society is full of temptations. Compared with TV soap operas, sport events, and video games, classical literary works are old fashioned and time consuming. In bookstores, “Fast-food” reading materials are replacing classics, and young writers with sensational and “cool” remarks win the support of a large number of fans.

As the salt of this world, we college students should be fully aware of the important role the classics play in broadening one’s vision. Therefore, we should start reading and studying the treasuries our ancestors left and absorbing the essence of those classical works. We should also advocate to the public the importance of classics so that an increasing number of general people can enjoy the pleasure of reading.

14年 学历歧视 According to the picture, an employer turns down a job applicant, for his degree is less advanced than the other applicants, even though he has a good resume. Actually, what’s behind the cartoon is the tendency that employers focus on academic performance when hiring.

No one disputes that a college or higher degree opens doors. Despite that, as far as I’m concerned, academic degree should not be the primary criteria in selecting talents. First of all, academic degrees only represent the applicants’ proficiency in their school work, and cannot demonstrate their personality or other abilities. For instance, the responsibility of a human resources manager is to deal with people, and thus it

requires advanced people skill which is by no means shown in the diploma. Second, emphasis on degrees may stall the development of the company. They will lose real talents if they judge people only by their educational background, while it is often the case that college drop-outs like Bill Gates, Michael Dell, Steve Jobs, etc., run wildly successful enterprises.

Therefore, instead of running after applicants with higher degrees, companies

should ome more concerned about what it takes to do the job and what a college education actually provides.

14年 ’How To Do Well In School Without Studying’ is over there in the fiction section

学习无捷径1

The comic is an ironical illustration that it is unadvisable to search for a shortcut to learning. The student tries to find a book about how to do well in school without studying in the library, only to be told that it is unrealistic and impractical.

The discussion of whether there is a shortcut to learning is essentially the requesting for a supreme learning method – a panacea every learner wishes for. In my opinion, the shortcut to learning does exist. It is the combination of diligence and intelligence.

As Thomas Edison says, “Genius is one per cent inspiration, ninety-nine per cent perspiration.”

On one hand, hard work is the premise and prerequisite for achieving academic success. Even the most resourceful ones have to devote their time studying and

reading, ause knowledge does not go automatically into the brain. All efforts will be futile if we idle away our time.

On the other hand, it is undeniable that there are ways to improve learning efficiency, especially with the support of technology like the Internet. Better learners are always the ones with cleverer learning skills.

To sum up, only when we learn diligently and skillfully can we achieve academic success.

2 We can see a teacher and a student in the cartoon above. When the teacher asks the student to answer a question written on the blackboard, the student wants to seek tech support rather than work it out by himself. The picture aims to tell us the problem that young students are highly dependent on high technology, overlooking the importance of independent thinking.

A large number of people point out that technology has played an irreplaceable part in learning process, while many others are against it. Those in favor of high technology believe we have benefited a lot from the convenience brought by Information

Technology. For instance, our work efficiency has improved ause computers can do complex calculations faster and more accurately than men. Also, the Internet has made it much easier to get access to information than before. However, many people claim that over-dependence on technology has done more harm than good.

As one of youngsters, I think as long as we can take advantages of hi-tech reasonably, our learning process will be highly beneficial. At the same time, keep it in mind that independent thinking comes first, while tech support just offers assistance. Only in this way, can we benefit most from our learning process.

3

It is a common phenomenon that a large number of students are pursuing success with a wrong belief that there exists a shortcut to learning. The picture given reveals this fact in an ironic way. We can easily notice from the cartoon that a student is asking the teacher in the library how to achieve accomplishment in school without studying, while the teacher is pointing to the fiction section to tell him to work hard.

Learning is actually a painstaking process in which both students on campuses and employees of working agencies are struggling to acquire knowledge by sparing great efforts. On the contrary, some people in today’s society aim at studying without hard work, following the so-called “shortcut” ways. From my own perspective, there is no shortcut in the way to learn. First and foremost, learning or obtaining knowledge is based on the accumulation step by step. The famous saying that Rome is not built in one day teaches us that no goal is achieved without persistence and accumulation. In addition, the shortcut to learning is extremely appealing to those who are unwilling to spend time and energy studying ause they might win by a fluke. However,

students advocating the shortcut is unlikely to win every time. Last but not least, the fickleness and negative attitudes towards exams are responsible for the widespread trend of the shortcut belief, and it surely lead to the failure of study to some students. Taking a look around us, we can find that many agencies and people believe in the prediction of the exams, and students may be indulged in the so-called perditions and pay no attention to studying hard.

As has been mentioned, learning without hard work tends to be useless and meaningless, for students cannot have a great chance to grow into all-round

intellectuals. The picture makes us college students aware of the great significance of true skill and genuine knowledge. Only by making efforts to learn in and after class can we gain solid and real ability and competence.

For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write an essay explaining why it is unwise to jump to conclusions upon seeing or hearing something. You can give explanations to illustrate your point. You should write at least 150 words but no more than 200 words.

A famous saying goes: “Seeing is believing.” indicating that what you hear may not be reliable, while what you see can be trustworthy. This opinion, however, is still quite partial.

What we see or hear are the facts, but they might be only part of the story, therefore a quick conclusion can be reckless and lead to unnecessary misunderstandings. For example, on a metro packed with passengers, some young people are sitting while an elderly is standing. If you don’t find out the whole story, you may jump to a

conclusion that these young people are so rude and indifferent that they show no love and care to the elderly. But the true story may be that these young people have invited the old man to sit down before you came, even if they are quite exhausted after a whole day’s work, while the elderly is quite refreshed after a workout and he refused to take the seat so that the young passengers can have a rest.

In conclusion, before making a judgement, it is better to get to know the situation in a comprehensive way. Only in that case, can we reduce the risks of misunderstanding to the minimum.

13年 For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write an essay aboutthe impact of

information explosion by referring to the saying "a wealth of information creates a poverty of attention". You can cite examples to illustrate your point and then explain what you can do to avoid being distracted by irrelevant information? You should write at least 150 words but no more than 200 words.

Ways to Get Over Information Explosion

As a famous saying goes, “A wealth of information creates a poverty of attention”. Nowadays we are in the Information Age. Some people keep complaining about distraction by the information explosion.

Admittedly, the new information age has brought us so much convenience that we are allowed to get enough information just with a simple click sitting in front of the computers. Nevertheless, we are also confused, annoyed, distracted and upset by an incredibly large quantity of information. For example, when searching for something online, people are easily carried away by irrelevant information and forget their original plan. Besides, some information often turns out to be useless and actually advertisement. Therefore, it can be time-consuming and troublesome to search information online.

Then what we can do to avoid being distracted by irrelevant information? Here I have some useful tips: Firstly, make a list of what you really want before your searching. This will help you to refuse some appealing, yet irrelevant information. Secondly, find some trustful and professional sources or websites and then save and categorize them. In this case, you can easily leave some ads and useless information behind. 13年6月

Good habits result from resisting temptation.

Keep Our Hearts Strong

As the proverb goes, constant drops wear out the stone. Good habits help pave our way to success. However, during the cultivation of good habits we are frequently bewildered and baffled by temptations from the world around us. Only when we are alert and determined enough to resist these temptations can we take a right and unswerving road to success.

In our daily life, it is essential for us to be self-disciplined. A healthy lifestyle, which may consist of regular exercise and balanced diet, is what most people are pursuing in contemporary society. Yet many people cannot resist the coziness of staying in and temptation of tasty but fatty food, thus giving up half way cultivating healthy habits and getting decreasingly robust. In addition, our progress in academic performance depends on good habits. We must restrain ourselves from endless entertainment. Otherwise, distracted and indulged, we can never maintain a good learning habit, let alone achieve academic excellence. In summary, good habits rely on strong hearts that are not disturbed by temptations. With persistence and perseverance, we are heading to success.

预测1You should write a short essay on the topic of Online Games.

1. 指出年轻人容易沉迷于网络游戏这一社会现象

2. 阐述网络游戏并非一无是处,

3. 提出自己的观点:只要足够自制,可以从网络游戏中获得真正的快乐。 参考范文:Online Games

As a product of modem computer and the Internet, online games have won great

popularity among people, youngsters in particular. However, some people believe that young people who lack self-discipline can easily get indulged in these games and their health and academic performances are severely affected. This phenomenon can be found on TV reports from time to time, and many teachers and parents have expressed their concerns over this.

However, some others argue that online games are not always harmful. They can train the ability of youngsters to respond to things quickly. Moreover, they can stimulate

their imagination and their interest in computer science. More importantly, it does bring people much pleasure and satisfaction, and release their pressure greatly.

From my point of view, online games are a wonderful entertainment if you play them in a reasonable way. When they interfere too much with your life, you'd better give them up at once. Yet if you have enough self-control over them, you can certainly obtain real pleasure and benefit a lot from them. 2找工作

Nowadays, the employment of college students is oming more and more of a

problem. About a decade ago, university students could find satisfactory and enviable jobs after graduation, while at current situation, about 30% of graduate students can’t find a job but stay at home after graduation.

Employment difficulty of college students is due to the following reasons. Among these, the increasing recruitment of colleges and universities plays a vital role. In addition, many colleges and universities fail to adapt their courses to the development of economy.

Considering such a rough job market, I think it is high time that we took effective measures to solve the problem. Above all, college students should realize their own defects and further improve themselves to keep their competitive edge in society. Moreover, colleges or universities should provide more trainings and internship opportunities before the students enter the society. Besides, college students should hold a right attitude towards jobs and set their job expectations at a suitable level. Only through these ways can the college students find a satisfactory job and have a brighter future.

A Green Life Style

In this day and age, environmental degradation presents great danger to the public. People in my country, and other places, have to bear polluted water and haze day after day. As public awareness of the need for environmental protection grows in these countries, it is urgent to learn how to establish a green life style.

To achieve a green life style, we must adjust our behavior. This can be done even with simple things. For example, we could sort out our trash for better recycling. At home, we can use lights and other electricity only when needed. We should properly

maintain air conditioners twice a year so they will run efficiently, and, even more importantly, make sure doors and windows fit properly and are sealed so that we can use less energy in heating and cooling. Other simple steps that make a big difference include using public transportation instead of driving private cars.

Commuters can choose to take buses, subways or share cars with others, which not only relieves traffic jams but also reduces gas emission.

In my mind, it is high time to establish a general concept of sustainable development and green life style in China. The Earth has provided humans what they need; it is time to pay back. Only through a green life, can we ensure that we and our children live in an environment with green water and mountains, without traffic jams, and in an era with better living habits.
